Remarkable Homemade Carpet Cleaner

When you live with any child 4 months to 4 years to 14 years, the carpets get messy: this gets them clean!

White carpet + dining room + two under two = STAINED FLOORS.

Whoever designed carpets in the eating area has forgotten what it was like to have small children. I never thought that vacuuming every day would be a necessity, but it is if I don't want stains to set in.

But this is real life, so, who can actually take time to vacuum every day? (I wrote an article about my scheduled vacuuming days; you can read about that here).

About once a week, there comes a day when life happens and the floor doesn't get cleaned up after a meal. This day seems to always land when we consume anything with a tomato base.

My sister-in-law shared with me her recipe for getting out any stain on any carpet. I have only tried this on white carpet, but, I can conclude that if it gets a ground-in-the-carpet-chili-stain out of my carpet, it should work just about anywhere.

Stir it up and go to town with a bristle brush or sponge, depending on your carpet.

This works so well that we even use it in our carpet cleaner at home. I have "shampooed" my carpets with this ever since my firstborn started dropping his avocado slices off of his high chair.

I still have a bone to pick with the designer of our carpeted eatery, but it's not the end of the world now when my toddler spills his dinner trying to master his spoon.

What cleaning tricks have you mastered since becoming a mom?
