When our kids are still infants, we’re often just trying to make it through the day (and night!). It feels like everything is about survival. But raising kids who actually take a stand for something starts early on. You don’t get an 11-year-old son who is willing to salute for hours on end without passing on to him some deep-seated values that go beyond making it through the day.
