Olivia Wilde Reminds Kids They've Won the "Life Lottery"

Olivia Wilde speaks about the importance of early childhood education

Last week, celebrity Olivia Wilde was part of a panel that spoke at the United Nations about the new Thomas & Friends: Big World! Big Adventures! series launch.

The Thomas & Friends franchise has partnered with the UN to include storylines based on sustainable development goals.

Here's what Wilde had to say about the new series:

"It really hit home for me because of the focus on early childhood education. I realize how important it is to shape and direct kids' storytelling from the earliest age. I love watching these episodes: they're purposeful, and something that benefits my kids' psyches, helping build a foundation in them to help them handle the world."

Wilde has spoken out about the importance of early education for her four-year-old son Otis and two-year-old daughter Daisy.

Poverty, gender equality and climate change are just a few of the issues Wilde has been focusing on teaching her young children.

Wilde says she often reminds her kids that they have won the life lottery, teaching them that easy access to resources comes with a responsibility to conserve, to be kind, embrace gender equality and understand the value of their education.

"If we can raise a generation that thinks that way, I really think the world will improve."
