On New Year's Eve, an explosion in the Russian city of Magnitogorsk damaged dozens of apartments in one building. Seven people were confirmed dead, with over thirty also missing, according to Reuters.
Magnitogorsk resides in the Ural Mountains; the temperature there was around one degree Fahrenheit the day after the explosion. But one infant, wrapped in clothes and lying in his bed, survived the apartment blast.
Rescue personnel found the baby in the apartment debris, thirty-five hours after the explosion, after hearing him crying. He was only eleven months old.
Though he had freezer burn and a head injury, he was somewhat protected by being securely wrapped and in his bed (Reuters). His mother, too, is still alive. Click here to learn more.
