I don't know who made the unspoken rule about not sharing your pregnancy until the 12-week mark. Yet many of us who have had babies follow it.

Celebrity mom, Hilaria Baldwin, broke this rule recently when she shared several intimate Instagram photos. Her first post alluded to the fact that she was in the midst of a miscarriage. She then confirmed the miscarriage in another Instagram post later in the week.

Baldwin shared:

There was no heartbeat today at my scan...so it’s over...but I have some pretty strong and amazing heartbeats right here. I am surrounded by such love and I feel so fortunate.

In her previous post, she admitted, "I always promised myself that if I were to get pregnant again, I would share the news with you guys pretty early, even if that means suffering a public loss." Based on the support she received, she's not the only one who feels that way.

Even though I didn't share about my pregnancies until I reached the "safety" of the second trimester, I wish I had shared them earlier. Having to hide my sickness and how I truly felt actually caused unnecessary stress. If I had suffered a miscarriage, I would have had to tell everyone anyway, because I wouldn't have wanted to go through that alone.

Regardless of where you stand on the "how early to share" debate, we can all agree that her actions have started a worthwhile conversation: no-one should suffer the loss of a miscarriage alone.
