Don't Listen to Those Mom Shamers

They thoughtlessly tear down thoughtful, hardworking mothers.

Mom Kelsea King recently shared on Facebook a biting piece of advice from one of her friends. The post: a list of contradictory things that moms have been criticized for doing. The audience? Those people who critique moms for breastfeeding and using formula milk.

These are the mom-shamers.

According to Alee Zering, the original writer of this short piece, people shame mothers for giving kids shots and staying vaccine free. Moms hear criticism whether they sleep train their babies or don't put them on a sleep schedule at all. And it's time for mom-shamers to pull back and stop telling others what to do so often.

Because what shaming does is tear down a mom who is trying to be confident, who already has so many pressures resting on her shoulders and has likely already stressed about some of the things these people thoughtlessly deride her for. If you are a mom who's been criticized for your parenting choices, please realize that these people do not define your experience or abilities as a mom.
