Critics accused her of wearing too much makeup.

When Carrie Underwood posted a selfie at her son's soccer game, Instagram users instantly jumped on her. Their claim? She was wearing too much makeup.

According to these commenters, some of them moms themselves, Underwood should look stressed and messy, like other soccer moms stereotypically look. Though that's the standard, moms also have every right to look good and feel good about themselves. GLAMOUR writer Petra Guglielmetti points out that some women just wear a lot of makeup, and they'll wear it even to a simple occasion, like a three-year-old's soccer game.

Aside from that, makeup can be a small semblance of control in a mom's hectic life. According to Guglielmetti, Underwood is going to get picked on anyway, because she is a celebrity and encounters so much scrutiny. If she wants to wear a nice face of makeup (and some very tasteful makeup, I might add), then she can enjoy Isaiah's soccer games in peace.
