This study found that grandparents who babysit their grandchildren can reduce their risk of dying compared to those who did not babysit. A second study conducted in Australia found that babysitting can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease because being around kids will boost your brain power and reduces your risk for depression. This research is giving grandparents even more reason to babysit their grandchildren.

It’s important to remember that while grandparents are sharing their wisdom and fun stories about the past, grandchildren bring them laughter, joy and an outlook on life only a child can share. Grandparents who babysit often learn from their grandchildren and have reduced stress levels.
