Baby Shower Thank You Cards: Are They a Thing of the Past?

I personally love thank you cards: I love giving and receiving them. In my opinion, they are quickly becoming a lost art. But a national debate recently emerged after one mom was "gifted" with not having to write baby shower thank you cards.
At my baby shower yesterday, one woman said, before I started opening gifts, “Can we give you the gift of no thank-you notes?” And everyone gasped and I DIED and now I’m going to be that lady at every shower I go to.

As you can imagine, the entire internet had an opinion on this.
While some cheered on the gesture, saying this would be the gift they pledged to give future moms-to-be, others balked at the thought of throwing away tradition.

As much as I love and appreciate hand-written cards, I think if there was ever a time to give someone a break on writing thank you notes, the pregnant mom deserves a free pass.
Instead of a formal thank you card that adds more stress in the weeks leading up to labor and delivery, perhaps new moms could send us a cute picture of the baby after she's born?
Regardless of whether baby shower thank you cards remain or die off, a healthy dose of gratitude is always welcomed and appreciated, in whatever form it takes!
